Three Reasons Why Leadership Grows Your Business

As a small business owner, you may be up to your armpits in fixing a bushfire or working after hours keeping up with the bookkeeping.

You hear about people saying that a business needs leadership to guide it to success and maybe you think that’s fine for some but in the real world, it’s pretty much BS!

Where have you got the time?

And anyway you own and run a small business. At best you only have a handful of people working for you and they seem to be doing what they’re told!

It looks like more and more restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic are being relaxed.

For those of us in small business, this is great news.

Some of us may still be wary and worried about contracting the disease as these restrictions are lifted, but even so, we’ll be relieved we can try to get back to business as usual.

Even if you haven’t had to shut, the unprecedented fall in foot and other traffic would have had a critical effect on income, and your staff may have had to be stood, down, laid off, or been unable to leave self-isolation to get to work. In one way or other all small businesses would have been affected.

However, there are things you can do to lock down your business and prepare it to restart when the restrictions are lifted.

Are you thinking of, or have you recently started your own business?

As you enter into the process, it can be quite overwhelming, trying to remember, let alone know for sure, all the steps you have to take, all the regulatory matters and things to think about.

What you need to do at the outset is to understand what you need to bring to the game, be clear about all the steps you need to take from thinking about the idea of starting your business to business opening, and to actually design how the business will operate and what to do strategically and on a day-to-day basis.

You can, however, follow a pretty standard step-by-step formula.

I have used my 40 years’ experience advising small business owners and distilled it into 5 basic steps.

So, let’s go!
